and dear God not a second afterward…
You want me to be yours, but are not sure you can be mine…
You want me to wait, but don’t really think I have anything to wait for…
You want me to cater to your happiness; but you’re not sure you can care about mine...
You want us to build separate lives with separate friends,
But you don’t think we can build a life together…
You don’t want us to break up, but you’re not sure there should actually be an “us.”
You accuse me of wanting everything my way, when it fact it should be yours…
But here’s what I want…
I want someone who believes in me, and believes in us
I want someone who doesn’t see relationships as a prison
…someone who is willing to grow as an individual, yes…but also as a partner…
I want someone who wants me too…
Someone who can’t resist my touch…
at least, who can only resist it maybe 20% of the time – and that’s a lot…
Someone who wants to touch me…
I want someone who occasionally wants to be with me…in my arms…by my side…
Who occasionally wants to shut the door, and surrender to the embrace of the one who loves you totally, and completely…
Do I want too much?
Is what I have enough?
Is it enough to be there for you when you need me…
Yet not have you by my side when I am in need…?
I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
