“‘Want’ doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel.” I shudder in response. I kiss her again, trying to tell her with my tongue exactly what I would like to do to her…to her body. Her tongue speaks back to me, and the stories are the same.
A hand drops lightly on my shoulder. Jill’s arms are on my hips, and this clued me in to the fact that she wasn’t the one tapping me. I told you…I’m smart. We reluctantly untangle our mouths as someone clears her throat loudly beside us. Someone who has no idea she’s not long for this world.
“Well, well. Danny West. I thought that was you.” I suppress a groan, as I turn to a face from my past. A beautiful face, no doubt. I remember that face in several states of arousal. Need I say more?
“Nicky…” I glance quickly at Jill, who is looking on in pure bemusement, as another woman’s hand caresses a spot she had occupied a few moments ago. I take Nicky’s hand off my shoulder under the guise of giving it a handshake. “How are you? Haven’t seen you around in ages.” And I really don’t want to see you right now.
There’s one other thing about Georgina’s that I had forgotten until this second: the danger of bumping into a former one-night stand. Or, in Nicky’s case, one-week stand. That was about a year ago, during one of the many ‘breaks’ the ex and I had taken.
“If you recall, I did try to keep in touch,” She gives Jill the once over. “And I see you haven’t lost yours. How’s Gail?” I glare at her. She smiles. Could it get any worse?
“Jill, this is Nicky…an old friend. Nicky, Jill --”
“A new friend, no doubt. Hi.” Nicky smiles again. Jill looks fairly amused at this point and merely nods in response. “So how is Gail?”
“It didn’t work out…we split up.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” she sends a look my way that’s anything but sympathetic. “Well, I’ve obviously interrupted you guys long enough. Nice to meet you Jill. Danny, why don’t you call me sometime soon? We should catch up on old times.” She blows me a kiss and leaves without waiting for a response. And so the iceberg continued on its merry way after sinking the titanic.

I take a deep breath and turn to Jill who, to my astonishment, bursts out laughing.
“What?” I grin at her; glad she’s not mad.
“You should have seen your face a second ago. You looked like a deer caught in a headlights.”
“Well…it was kinda awkward.”
“Yeah, I noticed.” Jill said, dryly. I’m sure there’s quite a story behind all of that.”
I shake a finger at her. “Now, remember the first date rule you brought up.”
“I may have been a little hasty with that one.” She took my face in her hands and kissed me swiftly – too swiftly – on the lips. “But I think we should go somewhere else. I’m not sure I’ll be this understanding if another of your conquests stops to say ‘hi’.”
“Hardly conquests. More like consolation prizes. I’m still looking out for the big dipper.”
She kisses me again. “What’s the ‘big dipper’?”
“You know…the forever-and-ever-amen-happily-ever-after woman. The big dipper.” And I wonder if I just found her. But then again, I do have an active imagination...great for my job, not so hot for my heart. I think I’ll go slow with this one. It hurts to give your heart to someone who gives you nothing but an orgasm in return.
Jill links her arm with mine, and we head for the stairs. “Well…at least you don’t call it the ‘big bang’.”

“So…where’re we headed?” Jill asks, as we get into the car. I wondered the same thing. I honestly didn’t want to go anywhere with a lot of people.
“Here’s an idea…and don’t take this the wrong way, okay?” I speak quickly before my brain has a chance to change my heart. “Would you…would you mind if we just go to my place?” She stares at me intently. “I just want to be somewhere we can be alone…I’m not trying to get you into bed, or anything like that.” I hastened to add, and then stopped to gauge her reaction.
She smiles. “You’re not? I don’t know whether to feel disappointed or applaud your restraint.” I reach out and stroke her cheek, then lean forward to kiss her. She gives a little moan and surrenders to my lips.
I reach a decision as we hold each other close. “Jill, I’m going to be honest with you…probably say more than I should.” I take a deep breath. “I have a long history of rushing into things, and getting hurt when it doesn’t work out. I don’t want to rush anything here. But I have to say, I sense something with you…something beyond physical attraction, though obviously there’s that. I want to know what that thing is…or what it could be.”
“That is honest.” She nibbles on my ear. “If it helps, I’m not the rushing kind, and I will let you know if it starts moving too fast. For now, let’s just see what happens and not try to focus on where it’s headed, hmm?”
She kisses me then, nibbling on my lips before sliding her tongue between them. Her passion makes its way down my body, awakening my nipples and surging between my thighs. I run my hands through her hair, pulling her closer to me…Her hand strokes my face…my neck…and then answers the silent call of my breasts. She cups them in turn, frantically tugging through my shirt. Finally, I pull away from her.
“Drive.” I growl, giving her my thankfully nearby address. She leans back for a moment, and then starts the car. I place a hand on her thigh, circling the territory of what I want to be mine.
